Cables to Go 7-Port USB 2.0 Aluminum Hub conveniently adds seven high speed USB 2.0 ports to your desktop or notebook computer. The slim form factor saves space while the port placement and hard-mountable metal base keep the hub in place even when several USB devices are connected. The hub easily slides out of the base making it convenient to travel with as well. The 7-Port USB 2.0 Aluminum Hub can be self-powered from the USB port or utilize the included power supply. Add additional hubs to support up to 127 devices. USB-IF certification ensures high speed data transfers up to 480 Mbps. Whether you are downloading or transferring spreadsheets, MP3 files, digital pictures, or video streams- the Port Authority2 7-Port USB 2.0 Aluminum Hub will make connecting several high speed USB 2.0 devices hassle-free.

Dependable PC Desk Accessory
Comment:
Fitted with 7 ports, this aluminum slim line model is nicely weighted and can be mounted or free stand. Transfers are consistent at high speed without issue. It pairs well with both Windows Vista & XP2 platforms. One of the sweeter features about this model is that it can easily be removed from the mounting base and packed for travel. It powers up via USB port or the included supply plug. Like most systems, the Cables To Go Hub is outfitted with a glowing blue power status light. As usual Amazon offers this item at a great price.

doesn't work properly
Comment:
I really wanted this device to work well. I had problems with it continually disconnecting and reconnecting. I thought it might have been because I didn't have the power cord attached and it wasn't getting enough power from the USB, but plugging in the power adapter didn't help.
It's been going on since I got the product and it's very annoying to constantly hear the alert on Windows when the devices connect and reconnect -- literally hundreds of time per hour! I didn't even realize there was a time limit for returns, luckily I signed on today and saw I had on more day to return it.
I thought about exchanging it, but then I read the other reviews on here, and I don't want to go through the hassle again. I think I'll just find another more reliable brand.
I like the construction of the device--it looks and feels nice. But let's face it, if a USB hub doesn't work, it doesn't matter what it looks like. It needs to work.

no probs so far
Comment:
Running Vista 64-bit HP SP1 and it had no problems self-installing.
Using the power power supply that comes with it, I have a printer 2 external drives and a wireless mouse antenna hooked up to it. So far so good.
I use "handi tak" adhesive putty, a ball at each corner on the underside of the base so it doesn't slide around on my desk.
If you use that self-adhesive foam strip to secure the hub to the base, apply it to that thin plastic sheet that's already inserted inbetween the hub and base, and put the foam side down against the base, not the hub. It's easier to slide the hub off and on that way.

USB Hub to the rescue
Comment:
Great little hub. Heavy metal base to weight it down. Comes with a piece of foam to insert between the hub and base to keep it from sliding out of the base. Blue light special light (Kmart still has blue light don't they? or I'm I really that old?) is covered over with a piece of duck-tape.

I like it
Comment:
Awesome little USB hub. Feels heavy enough when you pick it up, but it does move around some if the cables tug on it. It does come with some kind of mounting base, but I don't use it. It needs to be plugged in, which is a pain since I have like 4 power strips that are full of wide transformers. The blue light is very bright and does not go out when the computer is powered off. It's so bright I have to put a book on top of it so it doesn't keep me up at night. Never had a problem with the hub. Never had to jiggle the wires to get a connection. Would definitely buy another if I needed one.
