Get just a little careless and hold on for just a bit too long, and you'll get burned! I would have liked a bit more insulation, but still, for the money, these gloves aren't bad at all. I have used them quite a few times and they work quite well, I can pick up the cast iron pan I use for wood chips and not suffer the usual scorched fingers....
